SIENTIFIC ACTIVITY AND RESEARCHES
Don state technical university is a powerful scientific center of the North-Caucasus region.
DSTU embraces scientific schools of 6 directions:

The most important scientific researches, which are being carried out in DSTU, concern the following problems:
Solving the problems of mechanics of continuous substances on the bases of the redaction to integral equation. Boundary problems and connected to them integral equation and operators.
Studying of complex dynamic systems interacting with substances (technological or tribological).
Computer modeling of material characteristics.
Studying of non-equilibrium thermodynamics and self-organization in heavy-loaded units of friction and cutting.
Vibration technologies and equipment.
Elaboration of biochemical technologies and equipment for protein production from leaves and stems for livestock forage and for nutritional supplements for human beings.
Improvement of quality and reliability of welded joints and of compound human-machine systems in atomic power engineering through taking into account the influence of human factor.
Elaboration of unconventional ways of joining of materials.
Elaboration of quality management systems for any products.
Exploration and elaboration of intellectual systems of technological equipment management.
Elaboration of methods of analysis and synthesis for compound non-linear systems management.
Exploration and engineering of systems of dynamic monitoring of condition of tribo-conjugations and of processes of working by cutting, and also selection of optimal modes of processing on metal-cutting machines.
Elaboration of synergetic principles of management of processes of metalworking on metal-cutting machines including methods of NC-programming based on invariant diversities of trajectories of form-building movements.

Physical bases of creation of meta-stable controllable structures with predictable targeted at improvement of high technologies of surface hardening and alloying of materials using energy flows of high concentration.

The most essential task of the scientific, experimental, developmental work and researches is to bind together the university science and manufacture. It is provided, on the one hand, through collaboration of DSTU with a number of industrial associations of region, in particular, through participation in the association “High technology”, which embraces large-scale industrial enterprises of the South of Russia and, on the other hand, through the activity of the South-Russian scientific training center of innovational business placed in DSTU.
Also, the regional departments of three professional academies operate on the basis of DSTU: the International academy of science, ecology and life safety, Russian academy of technological sciences and Russian academy of problems of quality.
